2024 Chevrolet Trax vs 2023 Trax

Chevrolet took the Chevy Trax offline for the 2023 model year and it's returned in a big way for 2024. The new 2024 Chevy Trax is bigger, more affordable and has an enhanced design that looks even better than the 2022 model. The leadership at Chevrolet invested a lot of effort in developing the new 2024 model and we think you'll be impressed with the results. To provide an inside look, Paul Thigpen Chevrolet GMC in Lafayette, GA presents a head-to-head comparison of the 2024 Chevy Trax and the 2022 model.

Comparing the exteriors

The new Chevy Trax for 2024 has a sleek new look that's more upscale than the 2022 version. The front of this subcompact SUV comes with thin horizontal running lamps positioned up high along with mounted headlamp clusters located directly below. A crease takes a smooth journey along the side from the front wheel arch and rolls up into the side glass to create an aerodynamic look. The back end shares the same design approach used in the new Chevy Blazer EV.

Comparing the interiors

For the 2022 model year, the Chevy Trax had a touch screen display in the cabin but utilized smartphone connectivity to provide navigation and other features. The all-new 2024 Chevy Trax has been upgraded and gives you support for wireless smartphone connectivity for Apple and Android devices. You can use the standard 8-inch touch screen or upgrade to an optional 11-inch screen, both positioned in the middle of the dashboard. Other available upgrades include a six-speaker stereo and wireless device charging.

The interior of the new Chevy Trax for 2024 takes the same kind of stylish design approach you'd find in the Chevy Blazer and Equinox EVs. A screen in the middle is angled toward the driver and there are circular vents strategically placed at both ends of the dashboard. For 2024, the Trax has two slender horizontal vents under the screen and you can use physical knobs and buttons for easier control of the temperatures inside. The new Trax has 25.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats which is better than most competitors. It also has 54.1 cubic feet with the second row folded down and that's more space than the 2022 edition.

Comparing the dimensions

For the 2024 model year, the Chevy Trax is 11 inches longer than it was back in 2022. That includes a wheelbase with six more inches as well as two more inches of width. Those improvements make the new 2024 Chevy Trax more spacious than the 2022 model. Passengers in the back seat will enjoy getting three extra inches of legroom and the roofline is now four inches lower. That allows the rear seating position to be more relaxed and less upright than it was in 2022.

Comparing engines

The latest edition of the Chevy Trax operates with the same proven 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine you'd find in the Trailblazer model, giving you 137 horsepower along with 162 pound-feet of torque. That's a bit less than the 1.4-liter four-cylinder in the 2022 version but the three-cylinder engine gives you enough torque and a responsive feel. Another revision in the new Trax is that it comes exclusively with front-wheel drive.

Comparing trims and safety technology

The 2022 Chevy Trax offered only two trim levels while the new 2024 Trax expands your options with a total of five trims. The 2024 Chevy Trax gives your family a standard rear-view camera along with a lane departure warning system. Available upgrades include blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alert system.
